Waiting on Wednesday #58

"Waiting On" Wednesday is a weekly event, hosted by Breaking the Spine, that spotlights upcoming releases that we're eagerly anticipating.

Fathomless by Jackson Pearce
Publisher: Little, Brown Books for Young Readers
Expected Publication: September 4th, 2012
Format: Hardcover, eBook, Audio
Pages: 304
Goodreads Summary:
Celia Reynolds is the youngest in a set of triplets and the one with the least valuable power. Anne can see the future, and Jane can see the present, but all Celia can see is the past. And the past seems so insignificant -- until Celia meets Lo.

Lo doesn't know who she is. Or who she was. Once a human, she is now almost entirely a creature of the sea -- a nymph, an ocean girl, a mermaid -- all terms too pretty for the soulless monster she knows she's becoming. Lo clings to shreds of her former self, fighting to remember her past, even as she's tempted to embrace her dark immortality.

When a handsome boy named Jude falls off a pier and into the ocean, Celia and Lo work together to rescue him from the waves. The two form a friendship, but soon they find themselves competing for Jude's affection. Lo wants more than that, though. According to the ocean girls, there's only one way for Lo to earn back her humanity. She must persuade a mortal to love her . . . and steal his soul.

I have to admit to something very horrible: so far I've never read a book by Jackson Pearce. But I'm planning to change that very soon, which is why I'm very grateful for the review copy of Sweetly that's currently sitting on my shelf and begging me to pick it up. And Fathomless sounds just as awesome as Jackson's previous two fairytale retellings, so I can't wait for September to come around!

What are you waiting for this Wednesday?
Carina

  6. Nope, haven't read Jackson Pearce either! Mermaid books scare me though - it all started with Sarah Porter's Lost Voices and then every single mermaid book I've read since then. They're crazy things. Hope you love it and have found a terrific new author. :)

  7. Great pick :D I cannot wait for this book. <3 Sisters Red is my favorite. You MUST read that before Sweetly! Since it sort of is a series; you'll understand Sweetly a lot more if you read Sisters Red first :) Plus, Sisters Red is the best (A) Hih :D But I loved both. And I cannot wait for Fathomless :D Loving the cover, too. <3
