Book Blogger Hop #07

Book Blogger Hop

The Book Blogger Hop is hosted by Jen at Crazy-For-Books.com.

This week's question:
"Many of us primarily read one genre of books, with others sprinkled in. If authors stopped writing that genre, what genre would you start reading? Or would you give up reading completely if you couldn’t read that genre anymore?"

At the moment YA (paranormal, contemporary, (urban) fantasy, historical) is my favorite genre. If authors would stop writing this now, I think I'd completely have to switch to chick lit. A few years ago this actually was my favorite genre, so the change wouldn't be too bad. But I have to admit that I'd really miss YA books; I think there's something special about them. :)

What is your favorite genre? What would you read if authors would stop writing it now?
Carina

P.s.: A few days left to enter my intl. giveaway to win an ARC of Daughter of Smoke and Bone.

  1. I think chick lit is the one genre I wouldn't be too keen to read. Something about it just annoys me. If YA disappeared, then I'd probably start reading more paranormal romance or urban fantasy.

  3. I agree, there is something special about YA books. If YA was no longer on the market I would probably get into more chick lit and paranormal!

  6. I chose Chick Lit as well. I am getting into it all of a sudden but nearly as into YA as I am.

  9. I love YA as well and would be sad if it went away, but like you I would have other choices. I don't think I could ever not read.

  10. The main genre that I read is YA, especially YA contemporary and lately a lot of dystopia. If that disappeared, I would definitely delve further into adult lit. There will always be something to read :)

  11. There are so many different things to read even if new books in a favorite genre stopped being published. Please come see what I would read.

  12. I love chic lit too! It's been awhile since I've read any though. Here's my hop, if you want to stop by.

  13. There IS something special about YA. It reads so effortlessly. I find adult fiction is basically just YA with sex, but because the sex is often focussed on, we lose a bit of charm. Oh well. I would probably switch to PNR/UF.

  14. I don't know what I would do if authors really gave up writing YA! That would be awful!
