Cover Comparisons #18: The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han

Living in Germany gives me the perfect opportunity to compare original covers with the ones German publishers choose. Sometimes they're gorgeous, sometimes they make me cringe, but it's always interesting to see different covers for the same novel.

Cover Comparisons is a weekly feature here at Fictional Distraction.

I don't think I would ever pick up a book that looks like the German version of The Summer I Turned Pretty. It looks like someone took a photo they made during vacation, added a title and thought "Hey, this looks like a book!".
I just don't like it.
I also don't see anything of the story in this. The orginal cover at least conveys something of the storyline, but the German cover? Nothing.

Which version do you like better?

P.s.: Read my review of this novel here.

  1. I have seen the German cover and still think the same thing, if it had some different sort of lighting it would make the picture so much better!
