Cover Comparisons #03

Living in Germany gives me the perfect opportunity to compare original covers with the ones German publishers choose. Sometimes they're gorgeous, sometimes they make me cringe, but it's always interesting to see different covers for the same novel.

Cover Comparisons is a weekly feature here at Fictional Distraction.

Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

While I really like the simplicity of the original cover of Shiver, I fell in love with the cover of the German version Nach dem Sommer immediately. It was love at first sight.
All in all, both covers seem to represent the story quite well. The blue of the original is the perfect portrayal of the cold, I love the heart-shaped leaves and the wolf in the background.
But the warmth of the German cover appeals to me a little bit more. After all, the story is set in autumn and the colors fit perfectly as well. And I love the girl together with the wolf! I just want to possess both versions! :D

Which version do you like better?

  1. I really liked the original but I think I like the German cover even better. Thanks for sharing it!

  2. Oooo tough choice! I don't know that I can make it. I will say that I'd frame the German cover and put it on a wall in my house (without the text) lol.

I read and love every single comment you leave, so thanks a lot for taking your time to let me know what you are thinking about this post! Feel free to leave a link to your blog, so I can check it out, too!
